however, today, when almost every one of the allegories used to describe the Dajjal bythe Messenger have been reflected in themirror of the western society, how close arewe in correctly interpreting and identifyingit as the self-same "Masih-al-kazzab," theDajjal? Unfortunately far from resisting or rejecting it, we, the so- called Muslims of this world, have it in front of our very eyesand yet are not only unable to Dajjal? TheJudeo-Christian ‘Civilization’! recognize itfor its true self, but have accepted it as our lord, master and have submitted to it.Let us start with the name, with which theMessenger has introduced us to it, theDajjal- which is not actually a name, in thesense that it is more of a description than a proper name; like that of Imam Mahdi (a.s)who will have a separate personal name butis known to us as Al-Mahdi or 'the rightlyguided one' who will appear in the later times to guide mankind to true Guidance, the right path. Similarly, the Dajjal is not aname in the proper sense as an adjective. The literal meaning of the word "Dajjal" isthat of an attractive impostor, beautifuloutside but dark and ugly inside, a cheat adeceiver and a liar. Is not this statement trueof the technologically advanced westerncivilization which dazzles the beholder withfantastic achievements on the one hand yetdue to its absolute detachment from God intheir collective lives, society is rife withinjustices, crimes and sins of every kind? This 'civilization' has been responsible for the deaths of 14 million human lives incourse of the two world wars and another 20million people in different wars andskirmishes ever since. The number of peopledisabled from these would be at least doubleof the dead; countless more have beendisplaced and rendered homeless. It does notend there- injustices and cruelty on a personal and collective level, murders, thefts, rapes, kidnappings go on unabatedand it is for these that the westerncivilization is the dazzling, attractiveimpostor.1 Hadith, Muslim from Emran bin Hossain(ra).2 Hadith, from Abu Obaydah (ra) bin Zarrahand Abdullah bin Umar (ra)- Abu Daud,Tirmizi and Muslim.3 Hadith, from Aisha (ra)- Bokhari.Dajjal book_Chapter-2 Importance of theDajjal'sIMPORTANCE OF THE DAJJAL'SEMERGENCE
The Messenger of Allah has said, 'There will be no greater event from the creation of Adam to the Last day, than the appearanceof the Dajjal'. -Emran bin Hussain (r.a),Muslim.This is perhaps one of the most importantHadith regarding the Dajjal since itencompasses the entire history of mankind, from the creation to its end; which includesthe Great Deluge, the World Wars and everything in between. Yet, the Messenger hasstressed the event of the Dajjal as beinggreater in significance than any other. Therefore, it leaves little doubt as regards toits gravity. The Messenger of Allah had been made aware of all things great andsmall in the world's history: there was not asingle important issue in the history of thisworld that he had no knowledge of; he hasnevertheless stressed on the gravity of theDajjal as being the gravest of all. Therefore, the very fact that he has placed the Dajjalas being more significant than either thegreat World Wars or the deluge of Noah'sera when the whole world was submergedgives ample indications towards itssignificance and gravity. Given this fact, itseems highly ironic that we are so littleconcerned about it!
