Job Support Group: May 9 and 23

for people who are worried about a
current job or transitioning to a
new career. Leslie Philmon, group

Men’s Bible Fellowship. At 7:00 on
Friday mornings a group of men
gather for Bible study, conversation

Russian Partnership Monthly meeting,
Tuesday 6:30 PM May 10, all are
welcome to attend and hear all the

are looking for people for specific

The Science & Faith Roundtable: If
you’re interested in how science
and religion can be partners in the
quest for truth, this group may be
for you! May 26: Special Guest Dr.
Phillippe Gagnon discusses “How
do we Know? Understanding in
Science and Theology.”
May Hunger Offering: supports the
Minnesota Annual Conference Love
Offering for missions. This benefits
international, national, and local
mission projects and helps fund
Volunteers In Mission scholarships,
including support for Haiti, new
immigrants and refugees in the U.S.,
and recovery ministries in Minnesota.
Your generosity to this offering will

Meals on Wheels is in urgent need of
drivers to deliver meals. The snow
is gone! Hennepin’s day is Friday,
and we need six drivers every
week. One or two additional people
who are able to commit to once or
twice a month would really help.

to ride along with an experienced
driver before making a commitment.
Food Shelf Help: Hennepin supports
the Groveland Food shelf and we
need 4 volunteers to work for ½
day in the Hope for The City ware-
house doing light lifting on May 18.

Attorneys: do you have 3 hours a
month you can spare for Dignity
Center Clients? The VLN Brief Legal
Services Clinic (located within the

At Hennepin, we like to reserve the
east parking lot for first-time visitors,
families with young children, and
people who have limited mobility or
need assistance. We encourage all
people to take advantage of the 600
spaces in the Walker Parking Ramp
across the street. The ushers and front
desk receptionists have vouchers for
you to use with your parking ticket.
Climate-controlled, and a short walk
across Hennepin/Lyndale, the ramp
gives you easy access to everything
you need here at the church.

Building Closings
The Church will be closed on
Monday May 30, in observance of
the holiday. Also, because of a major
electrical upgrade in the neighborhood
of the church, the church will close
at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 27. The
building will reopen on Saturday,
May 28 as needed and possible. The
Church will be open fully on Sunday,
May 29.
Community Meals
Don Forster and crew cooked up a
delicious barbecue chicken dinner for
275 delighted guests. 60 volunteers
served guests with joy and gratitude.
There was a delightful spirit among
guests and volunteers. 31 pets were
given top-notch veterinary care. Your
prayers, gifts and service make this
wonderful ministry possible.

FBI Agent, will be the
speaker at the 11:00
a.m. Adult Forum on
Sunday, May 15. Her
topic will be “balancing
civil liberties with the need for
effective investigation.” When Rowley
was an FBI agent in Minneapolis, her
office got a lead just three weeks
before 9/11 that known Islamic
extremist Zacarias Moussaoui had
paid $8000 in cash for lessons to fly a
Boeing 747. Her team arrested him
and wanted a warrant to search his
laptop computer, but superiors at FBI
headquarters said “no.” This event is
sponsored by the Hennepin Church
Peace Through Justice Committee.

On Sunday, May 22, come and enjoy
an authentic Russian brunch and fund
raiser for 2011 Programs. Please come
and enjoy the Russian art, eggs, cards,
and more for this special event.

Connect - May 23
Put your faith into action supporting
people experiencing homelessness.
P.H.C. brings housing, employment,
health care, and education resources
to the Convention Center on May 23.
Volunteers needed to walk alongside
guests to help navigate service. More

for Families
It might not feel like it, but summer is
around the corner! Visit the Children’s
Ministries table today in Carlson Hall!
Earth Camp at Koininia is July 25th -
28th, and is open to those who
have completed 1st - 5th grade.
Vacation Bible School is 9am - noon
on August 15th-19th. We will be
transported to Ancient Egypt. It will
be a fun-filled week for everyone
ages 3 and up! Early drop-off and
Afternoon Program will be offered.
Summer Sunday School – We owe a
huge Thank You to our faithful
Sunday School teachers! Our regular
teachers will be taking the summer
off. This is a great opportunity to
sign up for weeks that work with
your summer schedule, and be an
essential part of this ministry.
