Frugal Fair Devotion

Why are we Frugal? Is it because it’s… Fun … A Necessity… Trendy?

Why do I buy the stuff I buy? Why do I dress the way I do?
1 Timothy 2:9-10 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided
hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to
godliness.

What does the Bible say?

 We were created for the purpose of glorifying God and good works, not for our own
happiness.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that
we should walk in them.
 God has promised to provide us all we need (not all we “want” or “desire”)
Philippians 4:11, 1 Timothy 6:8, 2 Corinthians 12:10
 As women, we manage our households as we make many daily decisions about feeding
and clothing our families. The word stewardship is the Greek word oikonomia, which means
“household management”.

Questions to consider when balancing stewardship:

1. What is my perspective on material things? Matthew 6:19-20
2. Am I content in all things? Philippians 4:11-12
3. Do I have a servant’s attitude? Philippians 2:3-4
4. Do I give God my best? (and this is not just money!) Proverbs 3:9-10
5. Do I put God first when making decisions? Matthew 6:33
6. What does the testimony of my stewardship look like to others? Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
7. Do I remember that what’s right for someone else, might not be right for me? Romans
14:14-23
8. What am I teaching my children and grandchildren in my words and actions?
Deuteronomy 4:8-9

Deuteronomy 6:5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 " And
these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall
talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Mark 12:29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.
30
'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.'
This is the first commandment. 31 "And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other
commandment greater than these."
