Lou Jacobs Jr. has been writing how-to photography books for decades, andthis is his twenty-ninth. One of his chief rewards while researching and writingthis book was talking to and learning from many photographers. Their experi-ences and opinions are imbedded in various chapters. Many excellent photog-raphers have lent their beautiful work to help illustrate this book, and Lou haschosen a fine selection of their images. Some of Lou’s own portraits appear inchapter 6. He feels that pictures by other talented photographers are “treats”that are also instructive.Lou lives in Cathedral City, California with his wife, Kathy. He says thatlighting, posing, and talking with portrait subjects are the keys to producingoutstanding portraits.
