 Class B hazard (Serious)

 A condition or practice likely to cause
permanent disability, loss of life, body part
and/or extensive property loss or damage.
 A condition or cause likely to cause serious
injury or illness (resulting in permanent
disability) or property damage that is
disruptive, but less severe than class A.
 A condition or cause likely to cause minor
(non-disabling) injury illness or non-
disruptive property damage.
 Control must directly address each cause
identified.
 Consider short term controls if long term
controls are not readily available.

 More than one control needed.
 Use the control Hit list to make sure that the
best control has been found.
 Eliminate the hazard.
 Substitute the less hazardous material
 Use engineering control
 Use administrative control
 Personal protective eqipment

 Determine corrective action more than one

 Priotorise corrective action based on future
accident potential.
 Submit both long term and short term
solutions if necessary

lost in the shuffle.

controls:
