Kia Ora Koutou
Winter seems to have arrived with a vengeance this week, and we have not loved it!Students were terrified of the angry thunder, lightening and hail! I often wonder howthe weather gods time the downpours for school bell times! Please remember to send along a change of clothes for the students who want to playon the field, as they are getting very muddy. Also a change of footwear, slippers are great at this time of the year. This week we have had
visit. This was a very valuable learningexperience enjoyed by all of the students. We discovered the three bright stars in thesky at the moment in the mornings are actually planets Mercury, Mars andVenus, and they are all in line. Students gained an understanding of seasons and tidesand their link to Living world. They went on a 3-D ride through the galaxies, anAsteroid belt and saw the Constellations. I hope they shared this with you all at home.So often parents ask about the day and get… We did nothing ha! Follow the excellentinformation on the website and you will have many things to ask your child about. The
Living World Inquiry
is well into the Finding Out stage and classes have gained alot of new information about the components of living things.Senior students also enjoyed a NZ Music experience at Centerstage performed by theSIT students.I will be in Wellington this weekend for the NZ Principals Federation meeting, NationalStandards are still consuming a lot of time and energy at National level as schoolscontinue to problem solve their way through the many complexities.Remember the
student achievement information evening
we are planning Wednes-day June 1 at 7pm. This will be a great forum for questions about National standards, your child’s progress and how to understand the portfolios.Remember if you have any concerns about your child’s learning pleasecome and see us anytime, and do not wait until the 3 wayconferences. The earlier we know the quicker we can solve theproblem. This is an interesting link if you have time to watch it, I recommend it!
Remember any and all feedback is welcomed.Have a great weekend

A reminder to alL parents this is
a PARKING area.If the drive thru is full you
continue on, do a lap and return. The bottle necklasts only a few minutes and is clear by 3.10pmI have very real concerns re children ducking and div-ing in between cars and cars pulling through in twolanes. This was designed for one lane ONLY.Student safety is our priority, please use this area as itwas designed or we will have to consider chaining itoff.
It is CLEARLY signed NO PARKING.
