INSTRUCTIONS:
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE YOU BEGIN SEWING.

Finished Blocks
 All seams are sewn with a 1/4” seam allowance. Top
 PRESS OPEN ALL SEAMS to assist with bulk.
 Dark and Light Marker for fabric.
 Finished Block Size – 12-1/2” Square.
 WOF = Width of Fabric

STEP 1 – CUTTING FABRIC


1. When cutting the pieces for Instruction No. 2, 3, and 4 be sure to LABEL each item i.e. 2A, 2B,
2C, etc. as this will help when sewing the block.
2. Very Light – Cut the following:
A. (70) 2” squares
B. (18) 4-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (36) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total
of (70) smaller triangles
C. (35) 3-7/8” squares – Sub-cut into (70) triangles
D. (18) 7-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (36) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total
of (70) smaller triangles
E. (35) 6-7/8” squares – Sub-cut into (70) triangles
3. Light – Cut the following:
A. (35) 2” squares
B. (9) 4-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (18) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total of
(35) smaller triangles
C. (18) 3-7/8” squares – Sub-cut into (35) triangles
D. (9) 7-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (18) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total of
(35) smaller triangles
4. Medium (A) – Cut the following:
A. (35) 2” squares
B. (9) 4-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (18) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total of
(35) smaller triangles
C. (18) 3-7/8” squares – Sub-cut into (35) triangles
D. (9) 7-1/4” squares – Sub-cut into (18) triangles then sub-cut one more time to make a total of
(35) smaller triangles
5. Dark (A) – Cut (35) 6-7/8” squares – Sub-cut into (35) triangles – Label “5E”.
6. Dark (B) – Cut (8) strips at 2-1/2” x WOF for the Inner Border.
7. Medium (B) – Cut (9) strips at 6-1/2” x WOF for the Outer Border.

STEP 2 – CENTER OF BLOCK


8. Sew (1) Very Light 2” square to (1) Light 2” square to make new rectangle at 2” x 3-
1/2” – Make (35).

9. Sew (1) Very Light 2” square to (1) Medium (A) 2” square to make new rectangle at 2”
x 3-1/2” – Make (35).

10. Sew the TWO rectangles together with the VERY LIGHT at opposite corners – Make
(35) centers.

STEP 3 – SEWING ON THE TRIANGLES


11. Using the “CENTER 4-Patch” sew (1) Very Light “2B” triangle to the LEFT side and (1) to
the RIGHT side.

12. Sew (1) Light “3B” triangle to the BOTTOM and (1) Medium (A) “4B” triangle to the TOP.

13. Sew (1) Very Light “2C” triangle to the LEFT TOP CORNER and (1) Very Light “2C”
triangle to the RIGHT BOTTOM CORNER.

14. Sew (1) Light “3C” triangle to the LEFT BOTTOM CORNER and (1) Medium (A) “4C”
triangle to the RIGHT TOP CORNER.

15. Sew (1) Very Light “2D” triangle to the TOP and BOTTOM.

16. Sew (1) Light “3D” triangle to the LEFT side and (1) Medium (A) “4D” triangle to the
RIGHT side.

17. Sew (1) Very Light “2E” triangle to the BOTTOM LEFT CORNER and (1) to the UPPER
RIGHT CORNER.

18. Sew (1) Dark (A) “5E” triangle to the UPPER LEFT CORNER and (1) to the LOWER
RIGHT CORNER to finish the block.

19. Square off to 12-1/2” if necessary.

20. Repeat from Instruction No. 11 until you have completed all (35) blocks.

STEP 4 – SEWING THE ROWS


21. Using the cover picture sew the blocks together for each row – there are FIVE
blocks per row – Make (7) rows.

22. Sew the rows together to finish the quilt center.

STEP 5 – BORDER
21. With the “Dark (B)” 2-1/2” strips sew on the Inner Border.

22. With the “Medium (B)” 6-1/2” strips sew on the Outer Border to finish the quilt top.

STEP 6 – QUILTING AND BINDING


25. Add the backing and batting and quilt as desired.

26. Cut (9) strips at 2-1/2” x WOF for the binding.
