Quarterly Newsletter First Chapter of the ASBA

resident’s
Notes
I hope 2009 brings you a feeling of excitement
and renewal that seems to be associated with a new
year. This year marks a new step for RMSBA with
the Rare exhibit. This exhibit featuring Colorado’s
rare plants is the society’s first juried show. Forty
works will travel to four venues around the state
over the next two years to educate the public
about the need to protect these treasures … this
is a wonderful way to meet the goals of our mission statement “to educate
the public on plant diversity, regional plant ecology, and the rationale for
preservation of plants species through botanical art that is relevant to the
region”.
Winter always seems to be downtime for botanical work, but this year
especially should have RMSBA members working on new art. In addition
to setting Rare up in statewide venues, Carol Till has been busy setting up
exhibits throughout the year. Take this “slow” time to add to your portfolio
for the shows to come.
The new year also brings in new officers and executive committee
members for the society. I would like to thank those whose terms ended
in December, especially Patty McAuliffe as president, for their work to
take RMSBA into new areas, such as the Rare exhibit. If you have been
thinking about getting more involved, but are not sure what you would like
