Government partnerships and policy engagementCLTS is the primary rural sanitation approach for Plan International in7 Asian countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia,Cambodia, Laos, and East Timor. Plan’s sanitation programs inVietnam and the Philippines are transitioning to CLTS, while PlanIndia is implementing a locally-adapted form of CLTS.Over the period of approx. 3 years, Plan has supported 1257communities to declare themselves open-defecation free(ODF).Scale-up of CLTS is now well underway with a further 3595communities expected to declared themselves ODF by 2012.
