Go from continent to continent, discussing different countries in each
Read from an atlas about the continent you plan to study
Find the continent on the map and/or globe
Discuss geography, culture, celebrations, traditions, music, artists,missionaries
Basic Outline
:Day 1:Read from a simple atlas and find the country on a map or globeRead some books from/about the countryColor picture from “Around the World Coloring Book”Do a project or craftDay 2:Use the World Geography Sticker Activity book (or a large blank map of theworld) to mark the country, cities, or landmarksColor a map and flag of the countryRead a few more stories or fairy talesMake a recipe or plan a whole meal

I am using this lesson plan with a K age child. I have previewed some of thesebooks, but not all of them – so pre-read before you read to your child!
When searching the library I found each country has many books listed by just their name – I didn’t list any here because there are just so many tochoose from. Just choose a few at the appropriate level for your child.
Lesson 36 is a “Christmas Around the World” lesson – move this lesson to theappropriate place in your schedule to coincide with the holiday season.
Sometimes I found a book I really liked but it didn’t originate from a countryon my list. In those instances I added the book to one of the countries fromthe same continent.
Use Google images and Wikipedia to find pictures and more informationabout each country.

Using a red crayon – pick a house as your home. Go from thereto the gas station.
Using a brown crayon – go from your home to the supermarket.Go from the supermarket to the school.
Using a blue crayon – use specific directions – pick a place fromyour home and say “go left to the first turn, etc.”
Put your finger on the school. Go west to the third house.
