The Motivated Life 2
Relaxation; it’s possible and most importantly, it’s your primaryduty in life. Achieving a relaxed and happy state isn’t always automatic oreasy, and frankly, sometimes you have to fight hard for it. Too often ourprimary goals have nothing to do with achieving a relaxed state butworse, we unconsciously (or consciously) attach conditions such as “I’ll be

relaxed or happy when I get the car, the house, the clothes, the job, thespouse etc.”. An unconditional state of peace is the holy grail of emotionaland mental health, yet how often do we consciously set our priorities toachieve it 24/7?This book is about creating happiness in your life; to do that youmight have to take a step back, simply relax and look at what you couldbe doing wrong. Too many people are driven or “highly motivated”people. They live very “purpose driven” lives, but are driven by a sense ofvulnerability, or fear. This book explains just what makes us tick and illustrates in fiveclear ways why exactly we have the drive we do, be it in work or love. Thesystem presented here is the biggest revolution to hit psychology since it’sinception. However, this is not a textbook and should not be used as a self-diagnosis tool.
The Motivated Life
is meant to be fun and thought-provoking, and not a substitute for wise, expert, professional help.Another caveat: the celebrity profiles I’ve included here shouldbe seen as entertainment, not as clinical judgment. The folks mentioned inthe book (in my opinion) are incredibly talented, and therefore are worthunderstanding on a deep, nuanced level. Too often we either putcelebrities on a pedestal or in a pit; too rarely do we see both sides of theirstories, all the time. This book is my best attempt at seeing the pros and cons of not just famous people, but all of us, in a fair, humble and hopefully gracefulway!
