 Alice Cullen

Alice plays a really important character in this book. She is

Edward's sister and Bella's best friend. When the Cullens
leave she sees a vision of Bella jumping off off a cliff and she
thought she was committing suicide. When she sees this
vision shes hurries back to Forks to comfort Charlie, Edward
heard of this news and went to the Volturi in Italy to kill him,
Bella and Alice go to save Edward.
 Bella Swan

Bella is the main character of the story. She is 18 years old.

She is very clumsy, she is Edward's love. She doesn't like
publicity. After getting a paper cut in front of Jasper the
Cullens move away. She is very becomes very depressed, and
when Charlie threatened her of sending her to Renee she goes
to La Push and hangs out with Jacob. She goes cliff diving
and Alice thought that she killed her self.
 Charlie Swan

Charlie is Bella's father, he got a divorce with Renee. He

made Bella promise to never ride a motorcycle. He is a cop in
Forks, recently there has been sightings of big giant dogs that
are said to be killing people, Bella is worried about him
getting hurt by the wolves and of Victoria hurting him.
Charlie threatens to send Bella back to Renee if she doesn't
get over the Cullens leaving.
 Dr. Carlisle Cullen
Carlisle is a very important in the whole Twilight Saga. He
was the one to turn Edward, Esme, and Rosalie into vampires.
As for Alice and Jasper, they were already vampire when
Carlisle found them. He is the first vampire to do good, they
don't drink human blood, they are “vegetarians” which means
that they only eat animal blood. Carlisle is a doctor, he wants
to help people, not kill them.
 Edward Cullen
Edward is one of the main characters, his skin shines in the
sun like a diamond. According to the Volturi Bella is
Edward's singer. He leaves when Jasper almost kills Bella
because he thinks that he is to dangerous for Bella. While he
is gone he tries tracking down Victoria to keep Bella safe.
When he is told that Bella killed herself he goes to the Volturi
and asks to be killed, before he can Bella goes to Italy to
show Edward that she is still alive.
 Forks
Forks is one of the two main settings in this book. It has a
very small population. It is also very rainy. Forks is the home
of Bella and Charlie. There are lots of trees and forests, it is
green everywhere. One of Forks darkest secrets are vampires
known as the Cullens.
 Graduation
Graduation is important because at the end of the novel they
have a vote, which is about turning Bella into a vampire.
Majority overruled and Carlisle agreed to turn her into a
vampire after graduation. They pick graduation because she
will be out of school and away from her friends so that she
won't hurt anyone.
 Harry Clearwater's
Death
Harry Clearwater, one of Charlie's best friends. In this book
he dies from a heart attack. This is important because when
Edward thought Bella killed herself he called her home
number, Jacob answers and says that Charlie is at the funeral.
When Edward hears this he thinks that he is at Bella's funeral,
then he goes to the Volturi.
 Italy
Italy is where Edward goes after he hears that Bella killed
herself. In Volturi, there is a strong family of vampire called
the Volturi. In Volterra, Italy they are considered Royal.
Edward goes there to ask the Volturi to kill him because he
swore that he wouldn't live in a world without Bella.
 Jacob Black
Jacob Black is one of Bella's best friends, he is very important
in this novel. Bella spends most of her time with Jacob when
Bella is almost sent back to Renee. Jacob is the son of Billy
Black. Jacob helped Bella get out of her depression. Jacob is
in love with Bella.
 Klutz
Klutz is a characteristic of Bella. She falls and trips a lot
which sometimes leads to her major injuries. Her clumsiness
caused her to get a paper cut, which probably led to the
Cullens moving away. Whenever she gets hurt she lies saying
that she fell which is highly believable.
 La Push
A portion of this book is set place in La Push, the home of
Jacob and Billy Black. Bella spends mostly all of her time
there with Jacob. La Push is a reserve, they don't have much
entertainment. For entertainment they go cliff diving. Bella
went cliff diving, Alice saw this in her vision thinking that
Bella killed herself.
 Motorcycle
Bella swore to Charlie that never in her life she would ride a
motorcycle. She saw some on her neighbor's lawn and ask for
them. She took them to Jacob, who know how to fix cars, and
he fixed them up. Bella used some of her college fund to buy
the parts for the motorcycle. When they were fixed, Bella
rode one of them and crashed.
 New Moon
New Moon is the title of the book. New moon refers to the
phase of the moon opposite a full moon. It is when the sun is
on the opposite side of the moon from us and thus the bright
side of the moon is not visible from earth. The book gets it's
title because it is the darkest part in Bella's life.
 Opinion of this Book
Of all the books in the Twilight Saga, this book is very
boring. For about half of this book Bella is whining about
Edward and it begins to become boring. I wouldn't
recommend this book to anyone. This book made me not
want to read the others. It gets good during the last few
chapter.
I enjoyed the ending, the Cullens vote to turn Bella into a
vampire. Also because it turns out that the Cullens come back
to Forks and Jacob telling Charlie about the motorcycles,
making him furious was pretty funny.
 Paul

Paul lives in La Push. He can turn into a werewolf. He was

the third one to join the pack. He is most volatile member of
the pack, he became so enraged when he learned Jacob told
Bella about the pack that he turned into a werewolf and
attempted to attack her. He currently seems to have no ill
feelings towards Bella or Jacob. He is prone to angry
outbursts, causing him to burst into his wolf form.
 Quileute
Quileutes are the natives in La Push, Jacob is a Quileute.
They know the Cullen's secret. They signed a treaty with
them not to go on their land. They believe in many legends
about the cold ones and shapeshifters also known as
werewolves. Jacob's great-grandfather was the Chief of th
Quileute Tribe.
 Rosalie Hale
Rosalie is Edward's sister who isn't really fond of Bella.
Edward says that she is jealous. Rosalie hears about Alice's
vision and tells Edward, which causes Edward to go to Italy .
In this book, Rosalie talks to Bella in a polite manner. She
apologizes to Bella for telling Edward.
 Sam Uley
Sam found Bella in the woods when Edward left. Paul and
Jared hang out with Sam. They are all werewolves, Sam was
the first to become a werewolf, he is the leader or alpha of the
pack. He is engaged to a woman named Emily. Emily has lots
of scars because of Sam losing his temper, he is really
defensive over Emily, he hates it when people stare at her. He
was originally dating Leah Clearwater, Emily's cousin, but
when he saw Emily he couldn't keep his eyes off of her.
 Tanya
Tanya and her family in Denali are another family of
vegetarians. After the birthday incident Alice tried to
convince Jasper to go visit them to help him out. Laurent
from the first book visited Tanya, Laurent lived with Tanya,
trying to learn the ways of being a vegetarian but it didn't
work out for him.
 Unconditional Love
Bella and Edward are unconditionally in love. This term is
important in this novel. The reason why Sam left Leah for her
cousin is because he imprinted on Emily, something only
werewolves are able to do. Imprinting is like love at first
sight, they have no choice. Edward is crazy in love with
Bella, he left Bella so that she wouldn't get hurt. His love for
her is so strong that when he left he wasted away.
 Vitoria

Victoria later returned to Forks in the hopes of destroying

Bella to get back at Edward for murdering James. However,
she failed to attack Bella due to the vigilant protection of
Jacob Black and the other werewolves. Bella saw what she
believed was fire on the water after she went cliff diving, but
this was actually Victoria and her hair, she having been forced
to retreat into the ocean by the werewolves.
 Werewolves
Werewolves, Jacob later turns into a werewolf. Sam wouldn't
allow him to tell Bella nor hang out with her. So he gives
Bella hints and she figures out. Werewolves get angry easily,
which explains Emily's scars. These werewolves aren't small,
they're huge, the bears the police have reported were actually
Sam and his pack. Werewolves can read each other's minds in
their wolf state, which means they have no privacy. They are
really strong, working together they can kill vampires.
 X-Rays
Charlie was right about motorcycles being dangerous. When
Bella crashed with her motorcycle she got severely injured,
she had to go to the hospital to get X-rays. Bella gets more
and more X-rays due to her clumsiness and her numerous
falls.
 Yellow Porsche
In Volterra, Italy, Alice in Bella have to race against time, and
Alice isn't fast enough, so they rent a rapid car. The car is a
yellow Porsche, Alice falls in love with the car. Edward later
on in the Saga buys Alice the same exact car in exchange of
taking care of Bella while Edward is out hunting with
Carlisle.
 Zombie
There are no real zombies in this book. Jessica and Bella go
to watch a movie, a zombie movie. Bella then compares her
depressed self to a zombie. She doesn't do anything but eat,
sleep and her work. She was boring and dull, didn't hang out
with her friends, she didn't talk to anyone, she became
invisible, she was a zombie
