Hostess with the Mostess Apron Pattern

Sewing Instructions (use ¼“ seams throughout unless otherwise mentioned)

1 With the right sides of the large rectangle


facing each other, sew along the sides and
bottom, leaving the top open.

2 Turn the large rectangle right side out and


press. Topstitch along the sides and bottom.

3 With right sides of the pocket facing each


other, sew along all 4 sides, leaving a 3”
opening along the bottom.

4 Through the opening, turn the pocket right


side out and press flat.

5 Topstitch along the top edge of the pocket.


Fabric:
Large Rectangle: cut 2 pieces of fabric, each 24” by 18”
Pocket: cut 2 pieces of fabric, each 10” by 18”
Waistband: cut two pieces of fabric, 4” by 44”

6 Pin the pocket onto the middle of the large rectangle. Topstitch the
pocket into place along the sides and bottom (leaving the top open
so the pocket is functional).

7 Sew the 2 waistband pieces together to form a single strip 4” by 88.“

8 Pin the waistband to the top of the large rectangle so that the waist
band is centered and the right sides of the waistband and large
rectangle are facing each other

9 Sew the waistband to the large rectangle with a ½” seam.

10 Press the remaining edges of the waistband ½” to form the edge.

11 Fold the waistband in half widthwise and tuck the edges inward.
Press. Carefully pin in place.

12 By hand, whip stitch the waistband closed. It is easiest to do it


by starting in the middle and working your way out to the edges.
