n Thursday evening, March 10, Iwas at work, and in betweentasks I decided to jump over toCNN.com to check on the news.CNN.com is an informative websitethat updates hourly with new headlinenews, so it’s worth revisiting multipletimes in the course of a day.As I arrived at the home page, Inoticed an alert about a very largeearthquake being reported in Japan, where it was already Friday afternoon. So I turned on the TV and switchedto CNN. What I saw was mind- boggling. I sat transfixed as camerascaught the arrival of the tsunami inreal time. Had I not been checkingCNN.com on a regular basis, I wouldhave missed much of this coverage. What is it about a website that drawsus back to itself repeatedly andregularly? We have asked ourselvesthat question about Saint Michael &All Angels’ website and its (former)sister site, loveofmike.net. We want people to come back to the websiteoften, because we don’t want parishioners to miss anythingimportant. We are in the process of consolidating the two websites intoone all-purpose destination that willmeet the needs of our parishioners. As part of the process, we aregathering input from you about whatyou would value seeing on thechurch’s website, stmikescdm.org.

Baumann, is a pamphlet that can give loving aid tothose who are trying to deal with theserious illness or death of a loved one.It helps us understand the place of  prayer in our grief. “A prayer is arequest to God, a loving self-offering,a personal ‘entering into’ a situation, not a command. If we understandour prayers for the sick and dying inthis way, then we can let God dealwith each situation as he knows best.”

Yours, in Christ -
and full of hope our Christian story is. Ours is God who“wonderfully created and yet more wonderfully restoredthe dignity of human nature” through Jesus Christ who“humbled himself to share our humanity” that we “mightshare in his divine life.” In Christ, God “delivered us fromour enemy” and by his sacrifice has “taken away the sin of the world.” By the death of Jesus, God “has destroyeddeath and by his rising to live again, has won for useverlasting life.” Through Christ “all things are being broughtto perfection.”God, who from all eternity is love, out of that love hascreated us for love and has identified with us even in our failure to live into that love. As the Bishop Charles HenryBrent’s Collect for Mission on BCP 101 puts it, “Lord JesusChrist, you stretched out your arms of love on the hardwood of the cross that everyone might come within thereach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spiritthat we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring thosewho do not know you to the knowledge and love of you…”God has called us into a new covenant with himself – “acovenant of reconciliation.” We have been “reborn into thefellowship of Christ’s body,” the “wonderful and sacredmystery” that is the Church. As members of this Body of Christ we share in his ministry of reconciliation learning tolove and serve one another as he has loved and served us;and by offering reconciliation, love and service to the world.During this Easter Season, may we each receive the graceto know and feel the goodness of our dignity restored, our sins forgiven, and our lives sharing in God’s divine life. And may we worthily offer our sacrifices of thanksgivingto the one who sacrificed himself for us.“Tomb, thou shalt not hold Him longer Death is strong, but Life is stronger Stronger than the dark, the lightStronger than the wrong, the right…”“Let every person count themselves immortalLet them catch the revelation of Jesusin his resurrection.Let them say not merely ‘Christ is risen,’ but‘I shall rise’.”

With their help, United Bible Societies has sharedScripture over 239 million times on Facebook in the lastmonth alone! It’s wonderful to see people leaving commentssaying how they’ve been touched by a particular Bible passage we've posted on our page. The Bible page is helping to reach a new generation withthe gospel message. 51% of Bible page fans are under 25years old.Jane explains, “Young people come to the Bible page withquestions about the Christian faith. They ask deeplythoughtful, intelligent and searching questions about theteachings in the Bible. We have the opportunity to addresseach question individually. We pray for these young peopleand we’ve been blessed to see some of them come to faith.”The page also attracts its fair share of atheists and Muslims. The community of volunteers who contribute to the pagewelcome everyone. “We love to debate with people whohold different viewpoints,” says Jane, “we try todemonstrate God’s love for all people in our responses byshowing a genuine interest in everyone. I’m proud of all thevolunteers who respond to provoking questions with good-humour and a generous spirit. For some people, this is their only contact with Christians, so it’s important they knowwe are a loving and accepting community. ”
