Analysis and Discussions

This part of exercise analysis the purchase if yarn and its performance in the study
units. The purchase performance has been analyzed by considering both quantity and value.
Analysis has been made in this under namely
i) Study units performance,
ii) Performance of variety wise
iii) iii) total purchase performance

society was 64.4 (000 Kgs) for the period .the annual average was 6.44(000 Kgs).it is
found that the society has procured Cora cotton yarn and polyester yarn at equal per cent.
The total yarn procurement shows that excepting in the year 2002-03 and 2006-07, the
performance was good in all other years. The performance of yarn procurement in 3
categories found to be better of the last years in the study period.

fluctuated with the range of Rs1.99 lakh to Rs.28.88 lakh. The total procurement during
the study period was 137.96 lakh and the average was 13.79 lakh. Of the total procurement
of yarn, polyester constituted a high rate with 43 percent followed by art silk with 39%.
The year wise performance of yarn procurement shows that the polyester was found high in
2002-03 and art silk 8.95 in 2005-06 and Cora cotton with 9.82 in 2006-07. The reasons
for high performance in the above years were attributed to high production of a particular
variety coupled with the demand for such items.

to 27.51 lakh. The annual study average of the Namnadu society was Rs.18.68 lakh. In the
society also polyester variety was found to be purchased heavily with 42% followed by art
silk with 30%. The quantity of purchase was compared with the value. The 33% of
quantity has contributed to 40% in value resulting in 9% increase in value, incase of
polyester, and a 33% in quantity has contributed 28% in value resulting in 5% decrease
value in case of Cora cotton. This is because of the price of yarn and quality of yarn

The performance of value of procurement of yarn from NHDC shows fluctuating trend.
The total production of the study period was 568.78 lakh. Of the total value of procurement,
the Gandhiji society has contributed a high percent with 33% followed by Silambu salver with
24%, the lower performance was witnessed in case of Anna society with 3.5%. The quantity of
