INTRODUCTION

1.1 Definition of Internship

Internship is an agreement between someone and

company for a period of time which would let that person to learn how to

work in that company without being paid in the standard fees of usual

worker. Most of the internships are student or college student who is having

a mutual agreement between their school or college with the company where

they do the internship program.

Internship could give the student experiences and

knowledge about the environment of the job that they want to take in their

future career.

More than just an experience, for me, internship really give me much lessons

and one thing that very vital, network.

1.2 Benefit and Importance of Internship

This is the benefit that concluded from my own 3 months experiences:

 1. Experiences

Internship program is a very effective way to guide the student to the

real work experience. Internship might be the lowest point of someone's work

experience, but it really affect that person's future career. It shows someone

how it feels like to be in the lowest point, so when one day that person is in

the highest position, He/she will be wiser and tolerance to persons in the

lower position than them.

2. Raising skills

Internship program could raising the skill and knowledge that would be

need in the real work life of the student. For example, me, as a

communication student who is having a passion to work in movie industry

without any basic of knowledge in cinematography. An opportunity to be an

intern of a movie production, could tell me what skills that I need to be

survive and how should I do to make my dreams come true. With a practice,

I would not need any more theory as how they teach student of

cinematography, but I have already got the skills directly from the field.

3. Networking

Networking is one of the benefits that we could automatically get from

the internship. For a first graduate, networking is very important to give us

the job and connection that would be very useful in our future career.

Especially, if we did well during the internship period, then it would be a good

path to reach our goal.

4. Increase Confidence

After got the knowledge and information directly from the field, student

will be more confidence for prepare their self since they already know what

to increase, or what is the company need. Student also would be able to

communicate better since they have been figuring out the communication

pattern inside the company during the internship period.
