Plymouth County 4-H Camperships
and Scholarships
The Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council will again
be offering camperships to Plymouth County 4-H’ers
who would like to attend a Massachusetts 4-H Summer
Program or other educational program.
Please email Molly Vollmer at
mvollmer@umext.umass.edu or call 781-293-3541 to
request a copy of the campership form. All forms must
be submitted to the Plymouth County 4-H Advisory
Council at least 6 weeks before the camp or as soon as
possible before the event.

Animal Lease Forms Due
4-H Animal Lease Forms are now called 4-H Animal
Verification Forms. The Animal Verification Forms are
due to the Plymouth County Extension Office now.
4-H’ers who lease an animal must turn one of these
forms in to the Plymouth County Extension Office to
participate in various 4-H shows throughout the summer
and fall. Please call the Extension Office at 781-293-
3541 with questions. Please look at the following due
dates for each species:

P. Robery Scholarship is available for those pursuing a
degree in Animal or Veterinary Sciences. Each year the
4-H Advisory Council gives out a $1000 scholarship to a
male and female 4-H’er who are looking to further their
education in animal studies. Please contact Molly

Nature’s Navigators 4-H Club

June 1- Sheep, Goats, Swine, Llamas, Alpacas,

Poultry

4-H’ers may lease any type of animal including dogs and

other small animals. Please contact Molly Vollmer with
questions about how to have 4-H’ers participate.

The Nature’s Navigators 4-H Club recently went on

a spring hike to observe local animals and plants
4-H Walk that are active this time of year. They saw osprey,
red-winged blackbirds, water snakes and painted

sponsors for their Walk to help support their 4-H
Clubs and the Plymouth County 4-H Advisory
Council. A picnic dinner and 4-H Kite Flying
Contest finished out the night. In all over $550 was
raised for the 4-H Advisory Council and Plymouth
County 4-H Clubs. Thank you to all who
participated!

Marshfield Fair 4-H Auction
We are looking for help with the planning and
coordination of the 4-H Auction at the Marshfield
Fair. Please contact Molly Vollmer if you are
interested in helping the 4-H Fair Committee
organize this fundraising event. We are also
looking for donations of new items, gift certificates,
event tickets, etc for the auction. If you or your 4-H
club could help to collect and solicit donated items
it would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds from
the auction will go to the Plymouth County 4-H
Advisory Council for program support and
scholarships or 4-H programs at the Marshfield

Marshfield Fair 4-H Day
WEDNESDAY, August 24. Agricultural
Awareness/ 4-H Day will now be on Wednesday
during the Marshfield Fair. This is a change from
previous years, please plan ahead to participate in 4-
H activities this day.
4-H Day Activities will no longer have premiums
attached to the placing. 4-H’ers who participate
will receive ribbons for their participation and also
be invited to have a pizza dinner on 4-H day. NO
PREMIUMS WILL BE AWARDED. We hope to
have several 4-H’ers participate in this fun day.
The 4-H T-shirt contest, tractor contest, obstacle
course, costume parade and other activities will still
be offered.
Marshfield Fair Exhibitor Book
The Marshfield Fair Exhibitor Handbook will no
longer be mailed to participants. All entry forms
and information are available NOW online at
www.marshfieldfair.org Please check this website
updated information and dates for the 2011 Fair. If
you do not have access to the website please contact
the Extension Office 781-293-3541.
4-H Summer Programs
Plymouth County 4-H will again be hosting 4-H
Summer Programs at the Marshfield Fairgrounds in
July. This summer we will be focusing on training
dogs in a variety of ways.
July 11-15 4-H Dog Obedience Week
July 18-22 4-H Dog Agility Week
July 25-29 4-H FunWith Your Dog Week
Each week will feature a different experience with
your dog and introduce you to the 4-H Dog Project.
The purpose of these short term programs is
recruitment for the Plymouth County 4-H Program.
If you know of someone who is interested in joining
a 4-H Dog Club, please pass this information on.
Registration Forms are available at the Plymouth
County Extension Office.
Cave Canem 4-H Dog Show
The Cave Canem 4-H Club will be hosting a 4-H
Dog Show at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on
Sunday, June 19 at 9 AM. All 4-H Dog project
members are welcome to participate, please contact
the Plymouth County Extension Office for a
registration form.
4-H Livestock Mini Conference
Bristol County 4-H Livestock Clubs are hosting a
Livestock focused 4-H Mini Conference in
Swansea, MA on June 4 from 9AM-4PM at
Kelley’s Farm. Workshops feature topics for all
types of livestock and vet science. There are also
workshops on small engines, tractors and 4-H Quiz

 4-H at the Pet Expo 4-H Teen Council

The South Shore Pet Expo will be on Sunday, June
5th at the Marshfield Fairgrounds from 11AM-4
PM. A Round of A-Paws 4-H Club will be there to
offer information on Plymouth County 4-H
Programs and do demonstrations on dog activities.
Admission is free, so stop by to see our 4-H’ers in
action and learn more about your pets!
4-H Teen Council held a fundraiser for their 4-H
club at Hanson Grain in May. Below is a picture of
the club from the event. The 4-H Teen Council will
be working on a variety of programs for the summer
including helping at the Marshfield Fair with the 4-
H Sunflower Contest and recording 4-H public
service announcements on WATD among other
activities.

East Middleboro 4-H

Night at the Movies

Please join East Middleboro 4-H for a night of

movies under the stars! On Saturday, June 18 at 8
PM at the 4-H Clubhouse on Rte. 105 in
Middleboro, they will be hosting an old fashioned
movie night. Shrek the Third and The Goonies are Contact Us
the two feature films of the evening and a donation Molly Vollmer, Educator
of $10 per car load is all it will cost for a night out Plymouth County Extension
with the family! Please bring your own blankets 266 High St
