In 2010, The Ithaca League of Women
Rollers invited kids to join the ranks
of roller derby by forming the Ithaca
League of Junior Rollers (ILJR). In
their debut season, these youngsters
made history by becoming the first youth
roller derby league established in all
of New York State! The spring season
2011 has seen an increase in numbers and
an increase in enthusiasm for skating
and playing roller derby. Fierce and
determined, the kids of the ILJR skate
hard to build their stamina and skill on
the track, but they also show their
strength off the track. With many
talents and unique styles, they are
working to ensure that junior roller
derby stays healthy, strong and growing
just like them. Your donation for this
special meet the junior derby zine is
earmarked for the junior derby
scholarship fund so that ILJR can rawr!
provide spots for any young girl who
wants to play roller derby!
