Historically the time scale of 30 years is a short epoch but this is a phase to be reckoned and remembered
in the quantum development of Arunachal Pradesh for its substantial and qualitative human resource
contribution. We take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to the Government of Arunachal
Pradesh, Officers, Parents, Well wishers, Auditors, Bankers, Staff, and many more, related directly on
indirectly with VKVs for their unstinted help and moral support making us instrumental in offering the
service for three decades.

Upcoming challenges are there to portray the prospect to condense our courage, conviction and
capacity and deployment with dedication and determination. Required succor comes from entire
cross section of local populace, well-wishers and Government administration. The tiny tots who
used to play and frolic, hop and romp around; studied well and learned diligently under the loving
care of VKV staff, passed out with flying colours and are now occupying various positions in Arunachal
Govt. Administration and doing splendidly well. The second generation, their children, too are
admitted in VKVs. O Gosh! So sharp and stylish but fast and smart they are, doing better as well.
Consequently, we are the prudent spectators of two generations and many more will follow the
suit. By default, generations have gaps and the decades bring changes and together they present a
challenge, But Swami Vivekananda’s working philosophy is so relevant, all inclusive and comprehensive
that it is compatible with changing trends. 30 years of period is comparatively diminutive on the time
scale of history but it has made an epoch. An era of man making and character building education has
started and there are attainments in substantial measure; corroborating that we are on the right track.
Acceleration is the need of the hour because the path we ought to traverse is stretched and rugged.
Expansion is must to reach every nook and corner of Arunachal Pradesh. Men with capital M are wanted.
They will come rather they have to come. Whatever goes around does come around. They are in making.
Their gratitude aptitude will guide them to go to VKV and serve Bharat.
The blessings of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekananda could
make this journey of thirty years prolific. May we derive the required support from all of you to
work with cadence and place whatever we are capable of at the holy feet of Bharat Mata.
With Prayers,

As the VKV is celebrating a grand and colorful festival at this auspicious year
at Itanagar which will be an occasion for the student community to demonstrate
its unique achievement for the public to assess and appreciate the VKVs
services in the educational field, it will be the proud privilege of “Arohi” to
come out as commemorative issue, rich in content, aesthetic in appearance
and of enduring value, worthy of preserving for years to come.
I am eagerly looking forward for the special issue of Arohi as also to the
successful celebration. My hearty congratulations to the staff, students and
parents for their collective and sustained effort to set ever new records in the
field of education in Arunachal Pradesh.
P. Parameswaran
President
Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari
AROHI, the very name signifies “Soaring high”. Our Arohi is like the PSLV
rocket fired from the Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari. It has
carried 24 satellites and placed them in different orbits in the state of Arunachal
Pradesh. As each satellite carries on its distinct function perfectly well, so
each of the 24 Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas in Arunachal Pradesh, placed
in different orbits is vibrating with full of life and joy. Their purpose is to instil
Swami Vivekananda’s message of Man making and Nation building through
right type of education to the Arunachalee children.
Days are not far off, for these glowing stars to make Arunachal, a model state
in the Himalayas, the be-jewelled Crown of Bharat Mata.
We, like the nuts and bolts of the PSLV rocket which carried the satellites to
various orbits feel tremendous joy and our heart overflows with great
admiration.
May Sri Rama Krishna, Ma. Sarada and Swami Vivekananda bestow their grace
always on them who have taken their Vision as Vivekananda Kendra’s Mission.
A. Balakrishnan
Vice President
Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari
While going through the AAROHI, we feel Swami Vivekananda’s prophecy:
“One vision I see clear as life before me, that the ancient Mother has awakened
once more, sitting on Her throne - rejuvenated, more glorious than ever”
become visible. Each page of Arohi reveals that you are progressing well in
Bahu Balam (Muscular), Buddhi Balam (Intellectual) and Atma Balam (Spiritual
Energy). The high ranks you are getting at Arunachal level, in your respective
classes, in Science Seminars, in various competitions, the development in
sports, kho-kho, football, the literary pages – prose and poems, sketches and
drawings indicate that you are shaping well under the guidance of your loving
teachers and the elders from Dibrugarh. This is Ascent! progress onward!!
Persevere! Gigantic works you have to do. Now, this is the time to concentrate
and work with all vigour.
May Swamiji shower on all of you His choicest blessings and make you all
worthy of His Children is our prayer from Kanyakumari.
Yours sincerely,
D. Bhanudas

The Inspiring Ganesha that
gave Life a new reason to live !!!
He had extreme back-pain. Occasionally, chest pain
also made him felt its presence. He was suffering.
Yet, he endured! The love and concern for his
children, so many children, who are going to be
future-nation builders of the society, was his priority.
He just put ‘First Things First’ – suffering to this body
– this instrument of God – may come and go and a
day will come when this body will perish, but since
he was there only for a shor t time with these
children, he just wanted to motivate them, inspire
them to achieve great heights in life! He wanted
them to start living life with a purpose – a purpose
Above : The Ganesha that was offered to Sri. Vishwas Sir by
to serve and sacrifice for the motherland. Kumari Taba Yedi of Class VIII, VKV Nivedita Vihar in August 2006
His children felt happy by his presence amongst them. They understood what he meant. They understood
because they were intelligent and they pondered over these things. The ‘Krishna’ residing in their hearts
made them to understand. But they were also keenly observing him health-wise, which seemed to be
deteriorating.
One day, when the things were getting tough for him health-wise, he pondered over – how much more
his body will sustain. Whether God would like to take back His instrument soon? And then he got the
answer – No! “No! Not now. You have to live. You have work more – serve more – love more” came the
message from God. This answer came to him in the form of a small idol of ‘Ganesha’‘Ganesha’, which a pure-
hearted little girl offered him so lovingly, when he was sitting in his guest-room, suffering and lonely. She
gave him a small chit also, which he read after she left. And then… he just cried. Tears were not of
sorrow, but of joy & happiness! In the chit she wrote that she had been praying to this Ganesha daily and
that today she has offered special prayers to this Ganesha for his good health. Then her heart told that let
this Ganesha be with him, always, for his protection. So she offered it to him. Such an act of kindness, he
rarely saw in his life! He felt a new surge of energy spring out from the inner dwells of his heart. The pain
and suffering reduced. A new zeal, enthusiasm and positive-vibration he felt! Because now he was sure
– not only good future professionals are under-making out of these VKV students, but also good, pure-
hearted human beings, who will make this earth a better place to live – a heaven. This Ganesha gave him
a new reason to live – to live for these children – these caring children of Bharat Mata!
He was no other than our own Vishwas sir, and children – of VKV Nivedita Vihar – and that little girl – Km.
Taba Yedi of class VIII, and the time was when he visited this school in August 2006. He was so much
touched by this incident that he has decided to keep this Ganesha idol in his home’s Pooja-room, permanently.
The pictures show that same Ganesha kept temporarily in his guest-room in VKVAPT Dibrugarh office, since
he had temporary halt in Dibrugarh for a day, after returning from VKV Shergaon, and before proceeding to
his home in Tinsukia. Whoever heard about this incident from him, all of them cried – Radha didi, Dixit sir,
Nitin, some teachers of VKV Shergaon … When he was speaking to children of classes VIII, IX & X of VKV
Shergaon on 18th August 2006, he wanted to narrate this incident to them, but he could not. He got
emotional and cried, and then told the students that he will inform them about this some other time.
This incident tells us about what a real “Raksha-Bandhan” means – having care & concern for others,
unconditionally, without any bias! How true Swami Vivekananda was, when he told,
“They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive!”

When Baba, a professor, retired after 40 years from one of India's premier engineering

luxurious. While his students turned up on swanky motorbikes, Baba would bicycle to
the institute, which was close by and “did not merit wasting fuel”.
“I'm married to a saint!” Ma would remark sarcastically whenever he refused to buy a

“Even the new lecturer next door has bought a Maruti,” Ma would scowl at his newspaper.

It Happened To Me
Km. Appu Teli, Class VIII, Balijan
This happened to me during vacation. I, along with my friends,
once went for shopping. As the vacation was coming to an
end, we had to do lots of shopping. While at market, my
attention went suddenly towards a dog. It was roaming with
its master. I started teasing the dog. The master of the dog
requested me not to do so, as the dog was a very fierce one.
But I didn’t pay much attention to him. I started teasing it
again and again by taking a chocolate in my hand. To my
horror, it started chasing me. I ran as fast as I could and went
inside the car and locked it quickly from inside. The dog was
enraged and started scratching at the body of car. My friends
came after sometime and started laughing at me. I felt very
much ashamed of myself as other people were also laughing.
From that day onwards I am very much afraid of dogs. I also
confessed not to tease any animal. So, my dear friends, never
do any kind of such acts which may embarrass you.
