The Centre for Men¶s Health at Leeds Metropolitan University is seeking toappoint two PhD studentships, focusing on men¶s experience of ill-health andmen and health promotion.Established in 2007, the Centre for Men's Health is uniquely placed to helpchallenge, improve and understand men's health and is one of the leadingresearch centres of its kind in Europe. Research addresses the physical,psychological and social impacts on the health of men. The Centre createdthe pioneering and successful Tackling Men¶s Health Campaign, which waslaunched in 2008 and targets fans at rugby matches, encouraging them toaddress the issues of men¶s health.Professor Alan White, the world¶s first Professor of Men¶s Health and Co-Director of Leeds Metropolitan¶s Centre for Men¶s Health, commented: ³Withthe imminent launch of the EC¶s State of Men¶s Health in Europe Report thereis growing interest in men¶s health and the work of the Centre for Men¶sHealth. As the lead researchers on this report, and many other importantstudies on men¶s heath, the team offers a wealth of experience, expertise andenthusiasm in this emerging field of study. This is a great opportunity.´The studentships, which are open to all home and EU students, will cover academic fees plus a maintenance grant and an allowance to supportconference attendance and research expenses.
