Every year, raising a healthy child becomes more challenging. It begins with whattype o baby ood to buy, then progresses to what type o dinners to make. Thenthere are the sweet ruit juices, the yummy happy meals, the tasty ruit snacks andthe sugary sot drinks. Beore you know it, the holidays roll around and promotechocolate hearts, marshmallow bunnies, Halloween candy and candy canes. Withthe increasing popularity o video games and television programming and lack ophysical activity, it’s becoming increasingly harder to raise a ft child.According to the Centers or Disease Control and Prevention, childhood obesity hastripled since 1980. Overweight adolescents have a 70 percent chance o becomingoverweight or obese as adults. That statistic increases by 10 percent when a parentis overweight. These alarming studies illustrate how important a parent’s role inpromoting amily ftness has become. Ater all, or the frst 18 years o a child’s lie,parents are able to control and manage most o their child’s daily activities and oodconsumption. Raising a ft amily comes with many challenges, but with the rightattitude, consistency, determination and desire, your amily can beat the statistics.
