Philippians 1:9

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern
what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ –
to the glory and praise of God.

This is a letter in the New Testament to the people in Philippi.

So is God trying to teach us through Paul?

• Love grows through wisdom allowing you and me to discern
(understand) the right choices to make.
• As you study and read God’s Word, talk to God through prayer,
grow in your relationship with God then your love for Christ and
others will grow (expand) and you will begin to make better
decisions (choices) and have wisdom about what is the right
thing to do.
• This verse tells us that God wants our love for Him and for
others to grow and get bigger. Love comes from God.
• This verse makes us think…how do we get closer to God?
Sometimes we say grow in a relationship with God. Well, it is
like a seed that grows. Our relationship with God is the seed.
Just like a plant seed needs soil, water, sun and time to grow,
we need the Water (God’s Word), the Sun (Jesus), the Soil
(Church) and time spent reading the Bible and praying to God.
Then our relationship will grow too.
• As we grow closer to God, we will have ore wisdom and make
better choices. Wisdom is discerning what the best choice is.
