This dissertation is a sociological enquiry into ongoing processes of social change.Specifically, this deductive research will explore the changing nature of emergentforms of
based around the world being a singular place.Extensive literature based research contextualizes contemporary socialframeworks of understanding and outlines
how the production of „reality‟
, of ideasand consciousness, is dissembedded from the localizing restraints once imposedon human and information movement. This dissertation will not argue that a global consensus has been reached, butrather that multiple forms of global collective identity and action are now apparentand can be seen to emerge and operate in both globally interlinked and networkedsocial space as well as local conditions of being. Adopting a methodologicalapproach based in framing perspectives, attention is paid to the changing nature of collective action. Frame analysis is applied to a global social movement casestudy with the result of illuminating
such social and global consciousness. The work serves to open new areas for enquiry and position sociological thinkingas a means to explore new societal landscapes.
