Coverage for Hoosiers with Pre-Existing Conditions

Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP): Indiana


PCIP is the Federal High Risk Pool operating in the State of Indiana for individuals who are uninsurable and who don’t qualify for
Medicaid. This program is administered by Health & Human Services. For more information regarding eligibility criteria, option
deductibles or to obtain an application, please visit: www.healthcare.gov

To qualify for coverage:


 You must be a citizen of the United States or lawfully present in the United States.
 You must have been uninsured for at least the last six months before you apply.
 You must have a pre-existing condition or have been denied coverage because of your health condition.

Below are the monthly PCIP premium rates for Indiana by the age of an enrollee. Effective July 1, 2011

To qualify for ICHIA coverage:


1. You must be a resident of the State of Indiana (This does not apply to those who are federally eligible)
2. You are not eligible for Medicaid (This does not apply to those who are federally eligible)
3. Individuals who qualify for Medicare may qualify for ICHIA
You must also fall into at least one of these three eligibility categories:
1. Federally Eligible (Possessed creditable coverage for the last 18 months without a lapse of more than 63 days
2. Rejection of other health coverage
3. Premium rate higher than ICHIA
