Victory over Temptation Using the Word of God as a weapon in times of weakness
The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations...2Pe 2:9
The Lord knows how to deliver us when we are in temptation. It is His pleasure to rescue Hischildren when they are tempted. In such times we should never run away from Him, but rather runtowards Him.Like a little child who is in danger we should run to our Father's arms. Our enemy, the devil wantsto steal our peace, our joy, our relationship with God and our confidence to approach our God. Intimes of testing we should know that we may call upon Him for help. In times of testing we shouldnot listen to the accusations of the Evil One. Neither should we allow ourselves to be paralysed bythose guilt feelings. No! We must hold fast to our faith in God and know that he is able to bring usthrough. He has done it for multitudes of others before me and he can also help me.If we have stumbled, we should get up immediately and go on. There is no time to lie down and feelsorry for ourselves. There is no need to lie in a defeated position for years, because of weakness. No, we must repent and move on, because when you have fought the battle and won it, you willhave a powerful testimony that can help others too.In a time of trial, when one is accused of breaking the law, it will be good to know that you have anexcellent advocate on your side. Well, in the heavens we have such an Advocate. His name is Jesus. He is not only ready to fight our case, but He has already paid the price, the penalty for our sins. Hedied in our place, so that we may live!He also knows about every temptation possible and He also had to resist them. He never sinned. Therefore He is a sympathetic Advocate. He is also our High Priest, someone praying and pleadingour case, even when we are wrong. That is why we may come with boldness to that throne of gracein our times of need. Jesus is also there, praying for us. He is weeping that we may receive mercy, travailing for our victory over the temptations of the devil.
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find graceto help in time of need. Heb 4:14-16
