What happens when agility turns into inactivity?
Expecting mothers delight in eeling their baby’smovements in the uterus, because they know it means:the baby is eeling well. Normally developed children andadolescents have a natural impulse to be active rom birth, which makes it almost impossible to keep still or any lengtho time. People with a physical disability are requentlyunable to work o that natural need or motion. Butlong periods o lack o exercise quickly set o a viciouscircle. Strength and condition suer and the musclesbegin to become wasted. In case o additional spastic crampsthe tendons and ligaments are shortened, which lead tocontractures and mal-position. The consequence is thatmen women and children move less requently, which onlyaccelerates the process. A cycle that has a negative eect onall things o everyday lie (hygiene, dressing, eating, …). It isessential to start in good time to cancel these drastic eects.
And there are very eective ways o moving withouta great deal o eort.
