THE VERIZON CONTRACT EXPIRES IN51DAYS
Hi Guys, Gals, Brother's, Sister's, Friends and Pals,This will be the first in a series of Mobilization e-mails you will start receiving on aweekly if not daily basis. It is imperative more than EVER that we keep in contact andkeep our fellow Union members up to date and involved in all our

upcomingmobilization activities.

As some of you know, we had a conference call last night with a few of the DistrictV.P.'s and our Local Executive Board. Don Trementozzi has met with the RegionalBargaining team in Rye NY and reports back that this year, "May be a tougher fightthan 1989."For those of you that don't know, in 1989 union members walked for 16 weeks to winthe benefits that we reap everyday, including our heath care benefits, wages, pensions, etc. Specifically, the company wants to remove any contract clause having to do with benefits, wages, pensions, retirements, absence, etc...I know what you're thinking. No surprise there right? Well, it wouldn't be except for we are in a new age where land lines will be phased out and wireless is poised totakeover. The Wireless CEO's and executives have already been promoted (or are being promoted) to new positions within the Verizon Telco portion of the business. TheWireless executives are not familiar with unions and will most likely seek a lot of concessions in order to gain more dollars in their already fat pockets.
