"The Scoggins Report" is a terribly unscientific analysis of the feature film development business based on information assembled from a variety of public and non-public sources. Details on every person, project and company covered by the Report can also be found at www.ItsontheGrid.com, the only place mere mortals can find listings of Hollywood’s active open writing and directing assignments, not to mention comprehensive spec market data and active film development information.

2011 Spec Market Scorecardas of June 10
Don
ʼ
t sweat the subdued sales numbers so far in June - we had to set this month
ʼ
scutoff a little early thanks to our publishing schedule, andreps sent 15 scripts into themarketplace last weekalone in hopes of catching buyers before they check out for thesummer. There
ʼ
s no reason to think this month won
ʼ
t end up on par with April and May.In fact, there
ʼ
s at least one reason to think it will:
Paramount
made a pre-emptive specpurchase this week that isn
ʼ
t reflected in the below grids (
Bastards
,by
Justin Malen,
 for
Montecito
toproduce). The way the sale went down was very 1997: It went widewith no attachments (from
Verve
and
Chris Fenton
at
H2F
) and sold within 24 hours.Highlights from the below grids include:
Columbia
added yet another spec sale sincethe last Scorecard, putting it wellahead of the field. Paramount got on the board for the first time last month anddoubled down with the Bastards purchase.
UTA
and
WME
are running neck and neck for the lead among sellers, with 8spec sales each. The two companies are 60% ahead of
CAA
sofar, which has 5sales this year. Here are the numbers for 2011 through June 10:
