Your Excellency Sir, As you are aware, it took a couple of weeks after your kind invitation for me to be your running mate before I finally accepted, primarily in the interest of God, country and Illy belief in your good-self as the best person to move the country forward at this critical stage in our nascent history. In the circumstance, if at any time during the course of our joint efforts to move our country forward to the Promised Land, you consider it necessary for me to step down as the Vice President, please feel free at your sole and absolute discretion to accept this unilateral offer of resignation from me to that effect. Please rest assured that my deep sense of patriotism and unwavering loyalty to you will always remain.
