Hybrid technology refers to the technology used in hybridcars . A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or moredistinct power sources to move the vehicle. The term mostcommonly refers to hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), whichcombine an internal combustion engine and one or moreelectric motors.
y
The presence of the electric powertrainis intended to achieveeither betterfuel economythan a conventional or betterperformance. A variety of types of HEV exist, and the degreeto which they function as EVs varies as well. The mostcommon form of HEV is the hybrid electric car, althoughhybrid electric trucks (pickups and tractors) and buses alsoexist.
