Volume 20, Number 21 July 3, 2011

I’ve laughed often as I’ve read thefollowing diet plan.
Breakfast
½ grapefruit1 piece whole wheat toast8 oz skim milk
Lunch
4 oz lean broiled chicken1 cup steamed squash1 oreo cookieUnsweet tea
Dinner
2 loaves of garlic breadLarge pepperoni pizzaDrink anythingEntire cheesecakeI call that a good start but a poorfinish. At Eastmont we’ve had a greatstart this year. Attendance is up,commitment is up, giving is up,enthusiasm is up. Let’s finish 2011even stronger. These connections are essentialfor any church. We must connectwith God, connect with one anotherand connect with the world. Ourvision is simple, “Connecting peopleto Christ.”Being tolerant is a big issue in oursociety. Yet true believers cannotbe tolerant of everything. Therecomes a point when wholesaleaccommodation is detrimental to achurch and society. The church hassurvived many life-threateningstorms by boldly asserting its corebeliefs. We stand upon the truth of God’s Word. While we respect thosewho disagree, we must never besilent about right and wrong. MartinLuther in the 1500’s said, “Here Istand. God help me, Amen.”Anything less is more tolerance thanwe can tolerate.
