Volume 20, Number 21 July 3, 2011
I’ve laughed often as I’ve read thefollowing diet plan.
½ grapefruit1 piece whole wheat toast8 oz skim milk
4 oz lean broiled chicken1 cup steamed squash1 oreo cookieUnsweet tea
2 loaves of garlic breadLarge pepperoni pizzaDrink anythingEntire cheesecakeI call that a good start but a poorfinish. At Eastmont we’ve had a greatstart this year. Attendance is up,commitment is up, giving is up,enthusiasm is up. Let’s finish 2011even stronger. These connections are essentialfor any church. We must connectwith God, connect with one anotherand connect with the world. Ourvision is simple, “Connecting peopleto Christ.”Being tolerant is a big issue in oursociety. Yet true believers cannotbe tolerant of everything. Therecomes a point when wholesaleaccommodation is detrimental to achurch and society. The church hassurvived many life-threateningstorms by boldly asserting its corebeliefs. We stand upon the truth of God’s Word. While we respect thosewho disagree, we must never besilent about right and wrong. MartinLuther in the 1500’s said, “Here Istand. God help me, Amen.”Anything less is more tolerance thanwe can tolerate.

One day after VBS, I stood alone in thehallway watching the powerpoint of VBS photos thatBro. Mike put together and listening to Babbie MasonSing, “This is my prayer for you that you may knowHim, grow in Him, love Him, trust Him”…As Iwatched all those precious little faces flash across thescreen, I tearfully prayed that prayer for all the chil-dren who came to our VBS this year! I know that thisis Eastmont’s prayer and it is WHY we give, serve, pray and provide a VBS!! I’m always amazed at thetalent we have and the many who truly sacrifice toserve. We pray that God will bless the seeds that wereplanted this week! To GOD be the glory!!
