Directions: 1. Take a pinch of beans and count. Ask: Did your pinch have fewer than 10, exactly 10, or more than 10 beans? 2. Make a chart as shown and record with a tally mark. Do this 10 times. Tally like this: llll l

Extension: Repeat and see if the students get better at pinching tens. Or pinch popcorn.
