WHAT IS BEING ASKED OF THE CITY COUNCIL/AGENCY/BOARD:
The City Council is being asked to nominate a voting delegate and alternate(s) for the League of CaliforniaCities 2011 Annual Conference.
The League of California Cities 2011 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 21-23, 2011, inSan Francisco. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business meeting. At thismeeting, the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote at the Annual Business meeting, each city council must designate a voting delegate. In theevent that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity, each city may appoint up to twoalternate voting delegates. The Voting Delegate form must be returned to the League's office no later than August 26 so that voting delegate/alternates records may be established prior to the conference. The voting delegate and alternate(s) must be registered to attend the conference. At least one must bepresent at the Business Meeting and in possession of a voting card in order to cast a vote.
Each member city has a right to cast one vote on matters pertaining to League Policy. In order for the City of Lakeport to vote, a delegate must be designated. It is my understanding that Council MembersParmentier and Rumfelt and Mayor Lyons plan to attend this year's conference.
The City has the option of choosing not to designate a voting member.
Move to nominate a voting delegate and alternate(s).
