Next,bringoutasheetofpaper.PrintthewordsSisterhoodIsinlargelettersatthe topofthepage.Havethegirlstaketurnspassingthesheetofpapersothateachcanwrite onelineinitthatcompletesthesentence.Wheneachgirlhaswrittenherstatement,she willfoldthepaperdowncoveringherstatementandpassittothenext.Whenallofthe girls have written their statement, unfold the paper and read what they wrote, like one longsisterhoodpoem.. 3. HavethemdoavariationonCallOutThatInnerBeautyactivityonpage32:Havethe girlslineup,singlefile,onebehindtheotherinthemiddleoftheroom.Startingwiththe girlinfront,haveeachgirlturnaroundandsaysomethingniceaboutthegirlbehindher, thenmovetothebackoftheline.Afterthelastgirlhasgone,askthegirlstoremember whatthegirlsaidtothem:raiseyourhandifthecomplimentyoureceivedmentionedyour outwardappearance.Withthegirlshandsstillupaskthegirlsiftheyaresurprisedbythe numberofsuperficialcomplimentsgiventoeachotherandchallengethemtofindinner strengthstocomplimenttheirfriendsoninthefuture. 2. The girls will explore their view of themselves through a simple game that lets them consider their preferences in social situations. Have them stay in their singlefile line. Tell them how fashion magazines offer a wide range of idea about how women should look,act,think,andwhattheyshoulddo,inadditiontoalookatthevariousfashionstyles availabletothem.Talkabouthowvariousartforms/colors/lightingareusedtomanipulate ouremotionstopersuadeustobelievethemessagespresentedinads. 2. Haveeachgirltakeafewmagazinesoranartbookfromtheselectionavailable.Nowask thegirlstousethemediatheyselectedtofindoneimagetheythinkisbeautiful.Haveher tear out or mark the page to show others. Have her write down why she selected this image to represent the word beautiful (or how it defines beauty for her) on a sheet of paper,folditandputitaside. 3. Whentheyhaveallselectedanimage,havethemgatherinacircleandplacetheimages they selected in the center. 1. Have each girl get started by choosing a sheet of paper from the selection. Make a squarealittlebitlargerthanthesizeyouwantforyourfinalcircle. 2. Placethepaperpatternedsidedown.Foldalongthediagonaltomakeatriangle.Fold thetriangleinhalfandinhalfagaintomakeasmallertriangle. 3. Placethecornerwherethefoldsmeetatthebottomandtracethetriangle'sshapeon apieceofplainpaper. 4. Drawagirlontheplainpapertriangle,makingsurethehands,feet,andskirtareright againsttheedgesofthetriangle. 5. Transferthegirlspatterntothefoldedpaper. 6.
