 Yard Sale: Success!
This year’s yard sale was a huge success.According to Bonnie Mueller, coordinator forthe event, she had up to half a dozendedicated volunteers helping to get ready forthe sale. Hundreds of hours went intomaking this year’s sale the best yet. Bonniehas retired from doing this yard sale againand will concentrate on other fundraisingprojects. We thank her and her crew ofvolunteers for all their time energy and help. This annual event grew each year for the lasteight years, going from an actual yard to thecommercial building at the fairgrounds(pictured above and right). We hopesomeone will step up and volunteer toorganize the sale next year!

Outdoor Exercise Area
Last year the Humane Society received aspecial bequest specifically to helpanimals at the county animal shelter. The Board of Directors discussed goalsfor improving conditions at the shelterand the first two projects were completedmid-June. Working with shelter staff andcounty administrators it was decided tobuild an outdoor exercise area for dogsand cats awaiting adoption. Two 15x45chain link areas were constructed fordogs and a smaller outdoor covered areawas completed for cats. Visit our localshelter on Johnstonville Road and seehow nice it is. Someday we would like tohave a picnic table and chairs in theoutside area so people can visit with thedogs and cats and use the area as a wayof getting to know the dog or cat they arelooking to adopt.
