CEDAR SESSION NOTES – June 21, 2011
Much of the meeting on June 21, 2011 was devoted to shepherding mattersand planning for the remainder of the summer.

- We give thanks to the Lord for those visitors who are regularly attendingand a number who have indicated their interest in becoming members of Cedar Church. Part of our meeting was spent in reviewing the status of ourregular attenders, the preparations underway for receiving them as members, and planning membership interviews.- There continue to be a number of challenging shepherding issues withinthe congregation, in which we need the gracious power of the Spirit of God. These include matters of unemployment, suffering and grief, strainedor broken relationships, and spiritual waywardness. Please continue to prayfor your elders as we humbly seek to minister and to shepherd in the face of the needs. There are also weighty matters and difficulties being faced by themembers of the Session themselves. As elders in the Church of Christ, weneed your prayers, not only as we seek to be faithful leaders in the church, but also as we personally face difficulties in leading our families, inemployment, in grief, and accepting difficult aspects of Providence.

- The Session received a report from the deacons that the “TimothyOffering” raised $3727.60. We thank God for the generosity of Hispeople! Because Christina Hartwell has immediate needs for herpreparations for departure in August (including plane tickets), the Sessionallotted $2470 of the offering for her needs. Except for amounts designatedfor participants in the summer youth missions trip, the remainder will bereserved for division between the young adults who are serving the churchin youth ministry this summer and those serving as missionary associates.- The Session reviewed youth ministry events held thus far, and discussedpreparations for events still to come. This included the youth campouts, theupcoming missions trip to New Mexico, and the Girls’ Bible Study. We aregrateful for Elizabeth Van Dyke’s leadership as an intern for theseministries.

- Pastor Igo reported on the May 21, 2011 Stated Meeting of the Presbyteryheld at Pilgrim OPC in Metamora, MI. Pastor Igo has been appointed to aPresbytery committee overseeing the ministry of Pastor Rod Thole. PastorThole has been designated as stated supply for a local church in Lamont thatis emerging from a number of difficulties. Please be in prayer for him andthose who provide counsel to him as he seeks to shepherd and heal thatflock and build back up that congregation of Christ’s flock.
