“To correct CJ, or to challenge his own self
-perception, was to experience a reaction through e-mails, consistent disagreement (without seeking to sufficiently understand), a lack of sufficient follow-up and occasionally, relational withdrawal. Along with this, CJ was poor in volunteeringareas of sin, temptation or weak
ness in himself.”
--Dave Harvey
I‘d like to begin by reiterating
why I
‘ve put
such great effort in writing you at length ina
―Response Regarding Friendship and Doctrine‖ (RRF&D) and
, now again,
in ―A FinalAppeal‖ (AFA)
. At the risk of sounding sanctimonious, I am genuinely concerned forthe glory of God, the propagation of the gospel, the testimony of Sovereign GraceMinistries, the well-being of others, and the good of your soul. I love you. I loveSovereign Grace Ministries. I want the full measure of
God‘s blessing to rest upon you.
If I craved personal vindication, I could have spoken up on many occasions over manyyears. Inste
ad, I‘ve remained quiet in public but made appeals in private.
I‘ve notslandered you. I‘ve protected you.
I have sought to serve you and the Gospel. This isthe impetus and driving force behind my appeals. I have no animus.
By God‘s grace,I‘ve
sought to keep my heart pure.
God knows to what extent I‘ve succeeded.
In this document, like the last one, I have painstakingly researched all I have writtenand taken great care to present things justly and in context. I am sure I fail at points butwhat I have written is reliable and based on fact not hearsay. Once again, my ability topresent in detail is due to the use of primary source material. Otherwise, I could notrecall all of this material. My memory of conversations and events is not due to a heartfilled with bitterness. Quotations are
ipsissima verba
ipsissima vox.
This writing constitutes a final appeal. Scores of other helpful illustrations remain but Ihave no plans to write you about them at this time. That could change in the futuredepending on circumstances.BackgroundOn January 14, you wrote me regarding our friendship and said you held
disagreements over doctrine and practice
now separate us from servingtogether
‖ in ministry.
I asked for a clarification on doctrine and practice which yourefused to supply in writing. Then I wrote a response regarding our friendship.

"I want to speakwell of you, support you, and protect you for the sake of the gospel." ~ Brent

I am not sure of the meaning but there is an old southern saying that comes to mind...."Hogwash". This kind of slanderous material is simply a tool of the enemy to undermine the church. To reference it, share it or post a blog about it (CT) makes you part of the problem.
