Surveys (this is heading 3 under methodology and data collected)
The purpose of our surveys was to find out how effective the programof educating orphans with music would be, at least from a small scaleenvironment. Over a period of one week, we surveyed our friends who do notlearn music. This is because our target group is orphans who do not knowmusic and by choosing to survey our friends who share the same similarity asthe orphans, accuracies will not differ greatly and the accuracy of the resultare slightly variable to the schedule of a person we surveyed, hence we areable to infer the effectiveness of our program through this survey. Wesurveyed 25 people.
 Analysis of data collected
Here are the results.
Number of People Who Thought of Learning an Instrument60%40%Number of positive responseNumber of negative response
Note: The reason why we asked this question is because if someone has the thought of learning an instrument, the chance of him learning an instrument will be greater thanif he did not, so the question was to see how many of them could possibly express aninterest of such.
Awareness Of the Different Careers One Could Have After Certification (of Sort) inMusic62%38%Number of positive responseNumber of negative response
Note: If one were to know about the wide variety of jobs he/she could have after earning a qualification, they could be attracted to it, hence creating a dream whichthey will work towards with sufficient interest.
Is This Small-Scale Program Beneficial?76%24%Number of positive responseNumber of negative response
Note: This question is to find out the effectiveness of our small program, whichinvolved going around and telling people who do not know about the long-term benefits of learning music. From the results, we will know how effective it can betowards the orphans as the accuracies will only differ by a small measure (such asavailability and flexibility of time) as the orphans in Singapore are exposed to musicas well, just that there may not be anyone to tell them about the benefits.
