WATER ROCKET

Isaac Newton
How objects move?

Isaac Newton

Isaac Newton discovered gravity when an apple hits him on the head.

When the net force acting on a body is zero: If the body is at rest, it will stay at rest If the body is moving, it will keep on moving at a constant speed in a straight line

Newtons Second Law of Motion

When a net external force acts on an object, the acceleration of the object is directly proportional to the net force and has a magnitute that is inversely proportional to its mass

= ma

Newtons Third Law of Motion

For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction.

The faster she moves her hand, the more boards she can break, but also the more damage she can do to herself.

How Newtons Law of Motion acting on the water rocket to make it move?

Air is pumped into the bottle to increase the pressure inside the bottle.

When the clamps are released, the pressure inside the bottle has to escape from the nozzle that causes a downward push.

Newtons Third Law of Motion

Thus, the water rocket moves in the opposite direction, or upward.

Newtons Second Law of Motion

The volume of water will affect the force. If too much water, the mass of the bottle will increase. So, a larger force needs to make the rocket accelerate.

Newtons Second Law of Motion

The pressure drops quickly and the water no longer being pushed out. The full bottle will start to fall back without emptying all the water.

Newtons irst Law of Motion

The rocket reaches a peak height and drop due to air friction and gravity.
