to the Honorable Amanda M. Burden,

Chair, New York City Planning Commission
Migdalia Colon I want a new Hospital. We needed in the site of were St. Vincent's was NO NO luxurycondominiums. The City Planning is not even thinking of housing for us, that we can pay rent wedon't need any more luxury apts or condos. The Hospital is needed more. --Migdalia colon**********************************************************************Harriet Hendlin This is an outrage. A dear friend, age 84, put it this way: "How much more money do the Rudinsreally need?" I have been brought to, and cared for by, Saint Vincent's ER on 3 separateoccasions - most thankfully - and was also a patient of one of its staff's specialists who has sincefound employment out of state. I recently attended my first community board meeting - an eye-opener - and was flabbergasted as I listened to board members' concerns re: the architectural &aesthetic considerations of the Rudin project: Too surreal. My continued gratitude to those whodo the truly heavy lifting. The rest of us must keep the momentum going as well. H.Z.Hendlin**********************************************************************Edward Frey This so called stand alone emergency room" of the Rudin Group and North Shore LIJ is, not onlyillegal, but will harm this community and all its residents. If you have no other choice, which Ido not believe is true, then do nothing until you can put a full service hospital and realemergency service in the place that was ST. Vincent's hospital. Any other choice by you will notget my vote if you run again for office in this government!!!!**********************************************************************Larry Conroy At the age of 81, I have been a patient at St. Vincent's - emergency and surgical. Now I have todepend on getting through heavy traffic should I need emergency care again. Operated on lastyear, I was transported to Beth Israel where a 4 PM surgery was completed at 2:AM. Then therewas no bed to take me to. Patients were on the floor and leaning against walls in pre-op and postop. This is third country treatment. If another 9/11 occurs - God help us.**********************************************************************

Pamela Call I am a physician formerly practing at St. Vincent's for over 20 years and know the importance of a hospital at this location. I was also a patient with, now, no clear choices to seek care and noemergency room in Manhattan that is truly well functioning...if I was able to ARRIVE alive!**********************************************************************Sheila Mahon Ruvolo The Rudins are an extremely wealthy family. I cannot understand why they want to build acondo in place of a hospital. The Rudins had been very supportive of St. Vincent's over theyears. They frequently donated to causes in SVH (ie: nursing education, etc.). They don't need acondo there, but we need a hospital. Our representatives should speak directly to the family.**********************************************************************Edward Poliandro, Ph.D. Each time I pass by this wonderful place, I maintain the hope that someone will finance thereopening of this historic hospital. The community is in desperate need of health care, especiallythe poor. I sign here to voice my hope.**********************************************************************Suzanne Lanier Philips Even though we have moved, my daughter still goes to PS41. The noise and dust fromdemolition and construction will be disruptive to the school. Just look at what's happened atPS51.**********************************************************************Nick Atkinson The Rudins and The North Shore LIJ are focusing too much on building lluxury condos, and notenough focus on The medical needs of the community. I was appalled when I went to thePlanning Commission today. The Emergency Centre design is basic cosmetic procedures to anoutdated and grossly undersized existing structure, while they plan on completely demolishingthe main hospital buiilding and building a new luxury condo developemnets, which completelyviolates the changes that were made to have then hospital built in the first place. The wholedevelepement and there 'spin' on it was one of the shadiest expinations t I have witnessed in aheck of a long time. As I said to the commission today - This isn't about the community and it'sneed, need, needs. It is about greed, greed, GREED! How much did Rudin pay for the property?$0. I believe.Put a stop to developement until a more sensible and socially acceptabledevelopemnet that has a POSITIVE IMPACT on the neightborhood has been designed.**********************************************************************

Lucy Aceto I find the whole bancruptcy of St. Vincent's highly suspicious. What is a city without hospitals? When the buyers of these condos have emergencies where are they going? New York City is in aHospital crisis. America has lost it's priorities.Doris Casella Oh, yes, just what we need in our depleted neighborhood.....more up-scale condos!!! WE NEEDAND MUST HAVE A FULL SERVICE HOSPITAL! and no condos!Rudin needs to find another neighborhood to ruin.**********************************************************************Bill Boland Please, stop this unlawful application.**********************************************************************E. A. Sabo Please deny this application.**********************************************************************Stephen Bennett The West Village is in dire need of a Hospital. I can drive to Connecticut more quickly than ittakes to get across town to the East. Please think of the community. Thank you**********************************************************************Michael Grimes The West Village is overcrowded with high rise living. We are rapidly loosing local services dueto increasing private devlopment.**********************************************************************Diane Nichols How outrageous! To leave more than 300,000 people without a hospital while the Rudins buildtheir luxury condos! Shame on them and shame on the City for even considering this.We need a hospital. New York City Planning Commission you must do the right thing.
