In this Hands-on Labs session, we’re going to learn how to install, configure, administer and maintenanceof the Linux Ubuntu Studio 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) server distro. Ubuntu Studio is clearly geared to generalmultimedia production. It’s packed with a large selection of open source sound and video editing programspre-installed on the system that contains an amazing list of audio software for editing and playback suchas Ardour, Audacious, Mixxx, JackLab, Musix and much more. Graphic design and modeling applicationsare also included such as GIMP, Inkscape and Blender, along with plugins like dcraw to help with RAWcamera files and wacom-tools for people with Wacom drawing tablets. PiTiVi, Kino, Cinepaint are includedfor video creation. It also includes OpenShot which is great tool for video production.Ubuntu Studio comes on a DVD sized ISO. The installer allows you to select which groups of packagesyou want installed.
