This year,MENKS events will be managing the organisation of a Family Funday to help raisefunds and awareness for the Foundation for Youth Development and their Kiwi CanProgramme. We are writing to you to discuss potential opportunities for mediasponsorship of our event.The Family Funday will be held on Sunday May 8 and will be a fun-filled day forchildren and adults alike. Our major target audience will be children aged 5 to 7years old but there will also be activities for the adults to enjoy as well. Face-painting, giant playgrounds, bouncy castles and rugby stars are some of the activitiesthat will brighten up an ordinary Sunday and make it a Funday for families. However,the charitable nature of the cause means that we are working on limited to no fundsand we need alternative funding avenues, such as sponsorship, to achievepromotional goals. We believe that we can offer Fairfax some key benefits from thispartnership including, advertising, sales, naming rights and free entry for Fairfaxemployees and their families.Please find attached a sponsorship proposal, which will provide a detailed outline of what the sponsorship will look like. Sir Edmund Hillary once said, its all about the kids, and as one of the very firsttrustees of the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD), he too, along with FYDfounders Graeme Dingle and Jo-Anne Wilkinson, believed in kiwi kids potential toachieve. FYD runs a series of youth development programs aimed at young NewZealanders aged from 5 to 18 years and seeks to inspire, motivate and instilconfidence in the next generation of kiwis. The fundraising event that we will beholding will reflect FYDs values and objectives of having a positive impact on youngNew Zealanders, and will involve a Family Funday for children aged five to twelveyears old (the primary target of FYDs Kiwi Can programme). A chance for thechildren and parents to have a fun day out and spend time with each other, ourFamily Funday will be a bustling activity filled day for the children withbouncycastles, face painting, competitions and story-telling. A major drawcard of the daywill be television coverage of the event by popular childrens television show WhatNow. We will also ask local celebrities and sports heroes to participate in our event.Hamilton is home to 19 primary schools and close to 10 000 children aged betweenfive and nine years old; putting on the Family Funday will hopefully let parents andchildren aware that FYD delivers programmes in the Hamilton area and raise fundsto implement more programs and get more schools involved. Being a non-profitorganisation, this event will primarily be a fundraising activity. We recognized thatFairfax Media is New Zealands leading media company, providing newspapers tomany regions and spotlighting community news. We also recognised that FairfaxMedia act as responsible corporate citizens through sponsorship and coverage of sporting, cultural, artistic and charity initiatives in the local communities. As ourmedia sponsor, your logo will be presented on our flyers and on banners during theevent. We can also allocate a booth and provide volunteers to sell your publicationsas well as hand out promotional material during the event. This event may also be apossible story as FYD has been making a positive impact on many young childrenslives in the Waikato region.
Event details
Date and time:
Sunday 22 May 2011, event run time will be from 12pm till 3pm.
Bouncy castle, food and drink stalls, photo booth, competitions andfundraising raffles, story-telling, face painting and meet and greet with local sportsheroes.
We will mainly be targeting children aged 5-7 years old in Hamilton andtheir parents/guardians/whanau. A more detailed description of the target segmentcan be found in the target market section of this proposal. We expect to havearound 250 attendees on the day.
Entry to the Family Funday will cost $10 per person. We will also have raffletickets, toy sales and other means of generating income that will supplement ourentry tickets.
This will be the first year the Family Funday will be held. FYD was founded in1995 and have been involved in various other charitable events such as FYDs BigWalk fundraiser.
Parking and Trans
There is ample parking available at Lollipops Playland and if needed, there is additional parking space available nearby. The venue is alsoaccessible by bus.

 This is the primary target of FYDs Kiwi Canprogramme.
 One-parent families consist of around 22% of all family types inHamilton. Also, if they are a working parent they will not have many opportunities tospend quality time with their family.
les with children
 couples with one or more children make up for around 40%of all families in Hamilton. Again, work commitments and lack of time means thatweekends are usually the only times where the whole family is spending timetogether
 This target group is relevant to us as grandparents may have visitinggrandchildren over the weekend or have a role in caring for the child(ren).Depending on age, this group is more likely to go to an event with theirgrandchildren.
Whanau and extended family
 The family emphasis of our event means that we arealso targeting extended whanau as these family members can have a major role in achilds life and do not have many opportunities to spend time together.
Our promotion plan will take an integrated approach while trying to keep costs at aminimum. This approach will help us to reach our targets audiences throughdifferent channels.
What Now, a popular childrens television programme, will be approached to coverour event and although promotion leading up to the event may be limited throughthis medium, we can offer sponsors visibility of logos etc during air time. Thismedium will also help us to raise awareness about FYD as an organisation.
