PETITION REGARDING The Activation Ministry Church Expansion Proposal

We, the undersigned residents of _____________________________________ neighborhood, wish to express our opposition to the proposed expansion of the Activation Ministry church facility currently located at 166 South Lookout Mountain Road, Case #11-110479SU. Our opposition is based upon: 1. Expansion of those facilities is not consistent with current zoning or neighborhood characteristics of our quiet residential neighborhood. 2. Traffic would be greatly increased on Lookout Mountain Road and through Paradise Hills, causing congestion issues, endangering pedestrians, cyclists and wildlife, while necessitating traffic lighting at various intersections between State Hwy 40, Lookout Mountain Road, and Paradise Road. 3. Noise and lighting issues will be unavoidable; there have already been noise incidents from this facility. 4. Neighborhood security will be endangered; there have already been trespassing episodes on property adjacent to the existing church. 5. Neighborhood safely will be compromised; in the case of a mandatory evacuation (forest fires, for instance), getting so many people off the Mountain on these very narrow mountain roads will be nearly impossible. 6. Community services Foothills Fire & Rescue, JeffCo Sheriff, etc. will be additionally stressed to cover the increased population, WITH NO ADDED TAX REVENUE TO THE COUNTY to cover these requirements. 7. Property values will be diminished in all directions if this mini-mega-church concept is allowed to proceed. This expansion would, in our opinion, constitute a taking from all surrounding properties. 8. The Lariat Loop is one of the jewels of Jefferson County; as a National Scenic & Historic Byway and a revenue generator for the County, it must be protected.
