Little People Icons

Hi, and welcome back. For some reason, I've been infatuated with icons lately. You may have seen the tutorial I created in the last NAPP Newsletter on emoticons. I received such great response from it that I thought I'd take it a step further. If you're a windows user, you may have seen the little windows people scattered throughout the system folders in XP. If you're not a windows user then you

Hi, and welcome back. For some reason, I've been infatuated with icons lately. You mayhave seen the tutorial I created in the last NAPP Newsletter on emoticons. I receivedsuch great response from it that I thought I'd take it a step further. If you're a windowsuser, you may have seen the little windows people scattered throughout the systemfolders in XP. If you're not a windows user then you most likely have seen themsomewhere anyway. Here's a quick way to create them.
Step 1:
Create a new 500 x 500 pixel Photoshop canvas. Fill the background with a niceblue color. I used R:111 G:146 B:250.

Step 2:
Create a new layer named BODY. Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and draw anoval. Then hold down the Alt/Option key to subtract from your selection and drawanother oval at the top of the body for the head. Set the foreground color to a light gray(R:171 G:171 B:171 ) and dark gray (R:108 G:108 B:108) as your background color. Then select the radial gradient tool and drag a gradient from the top down.

Step 3:
Now add the following Drop Shadow and Inner Glow layer styles to this object.

Step 4:
Create a new layer named HEAD. Draw another oval shape with the MarqueeTool. This time, set R:252 G:173 B:62 as your foregrounnd color and R:214 G:138 B:42as the background color. Drag a linear gradient from the top down over this selection.

Step 5:
Add the following Drop Shadow and Inner Glow layer styles to the HEAD layer.
