A potter, who crafts wonders.

One is The harry potter who left the world spell bound , other is a potter who has triggered to create the history .Mansukhbhai Raghavjibhai Prajapati, a traditional clay craftsman , belonging to an ordinary village Nichimandal , Rajkot,Gujrat. With no money, no resource but the useless dust in his hands, he dared to dream, accompanied by the stubborn spirit to execute it. When the literate section of the society is struggling too hard for employment. He, with humble educational background, is busy challenging the technology, creating the employment and inventing the boon for the lower and the middle class. The repertoire of his innovation includes thermos, non-stick pans, water filter ,fridge and other such items ,unexpectedly, all coming out of the clay and that too at strikingly low costs . He marketed all of these in fairs and exhibitions throughout the country, and now has started spreading his tentacles abroad. His story of entrepreneurial success has been widely covered in the media. The Discovery Channel, Aaj Tak, NDTV, IBN 7, DD News, BBC and Vividh Bharti, AIR have covered his commendable innovations. Not born with any silver spoon in his hand but was reared in clay .His childhood went away , playing the heavy game ;to load and unload the donkey with clay , from the dirty ponds . His stagnate life took a disastrous turn with the breakdown of Machhu dam, taking his everything away. When survival got tough, his family decided to migrate to Wankaner. It was here that he got to work in a small rooftop tile manufacturing unit and marked the beginning of a successful entrepreneur. when he saw that the roof tiles are being manufactured in large quantity on the hand press, an idea struck his mind .He linked it to the Tawas ,which he saw - in all his life manufacturing manually on the potters wheel .He estimated fairly good increase in the number of unit output to 700 unit per day and kicked off with developing motorized hand press for the manufacturing of those Tawas .Though he could achieve success in the number of production units .But could not avoid the complaints from the customers- who find those Tawas much more brittle ,to the temperature , than the manually crafted ones . but his perseverant soul kept him experimenting with the proportions of clay and he made it to the most preferred mix and could overcome the brittle hurdle. By reinforcing his base invention with quality, now he was ready to explore- with passion and patience-he operated around breakeven for long and gradually extended his product line from Tawas to effective water filters, having a ceramic candle for filtration and started turning it into a profitable venture.

But life dont move so calmly , there is a spice in a moment and test in another -who passes , gets rewarded and who fails ,have to suffer. A test was thrown to Mansukhbhai by the unfortunate earth quake of January 2001 ,mixing all his earthen stock into the earth . In Sandesh Gujrati Daily, While looking at the picture of his broken filter, captioned as the broken fridge of poor , in those melancholic earthquake times - an idea struck ,once again, the entrepreneurial mind. He started working on a rural fridge that would be environment friendly and a blessing to those who could not afford a fridge. In his journey of three years, he tested various soils and fridge designs and came up with an accomplished invention .He calls it mitticool, which you may call; a low cost clay fridge. Mitticool requires no electricity and has low maintenance cost .It Can be used to store fruits and vegetables for 5 to 6 days and milk for 3 days. Where we can think its suitability for lower class , Mansukhbhai takes pride in saying , my fridge is attracting more customers from urban areas than rural areas. Mitticool was featured at a conference organized by the Centre for India and Global Business, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK. Bosch and Siemens Hausgerte (BSH), one of the worlds largest home appliance companies have also showed interest in it. Other than the amazing mitticool he developed non stick Tawas; costing around Rs. 50 and earthen thermos - on the same principle of eco-friendliness and economy. His innovations are being recognized and demanded around the world ,his business is flourishing but Mansukhbhai has a wider vision ; a complete range of cooking utensils ,improved designs to his products, a house requiring no electricity for any purpose, his name in Guinness book of record and his list continues .after all its not always that you need feathers to fly ,a strong determination and constant action is enough . His entrepreneurial journey began at a very tender age and it kept growing exponentially. Now when he is in his forties , he is ever ready to venture into the new and the unknown, in making mistakes and continuous development. He keeps experimenting in his factory and travelling to market his products. The spirit to make a difference in society keeps him alive, his interest and his creative thinking is his derive.
