II. Wisdom is better than the substance of fine gold
That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those thatlove them.
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also doeven the same.
And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners alsolend to sinners, to receive as much again.
Luke6:35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and yourreward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind untothe unthankful and to the evil.Matthew6:16
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for theydisfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you,They have their reward.
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thyFather, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
III. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing
s of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness deliverethfrom death.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditionof men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, andupbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
