Highlights Goal Automate a manually intensive text mining operation to deliver better accuracy for consumer insights as an in- house team but faster and with a built-in scalability. Results Our semantic and text analytics technology was able surpass the accuracy of the in-house text mining team and seamlessly integrate the resulting data into the clients data management system.

Our Clients Goals


Collective Intellect (CI) worked with a leading digital media company to assist in transforming a manually intensive text mining operation into an automated, real- time, sophisticated review of consumer text. The clients previous system relied on a team of individuals reviewing each text file and assigning a tag to each post that was related to a specific annotation. They knew this method was not scalable but were unsure how to derive the precise insights necessary from an automated process.

CI was able to configure our sophisticated semantic engine to not only analyze the large volume of content but also surpass the accuracy of the clients manual in-house team. Using the same tagging methodology CI mapped the tags to a dimension. Dimensions are used to extract specific aspects of a text; in this case, our text analytics technology was configured to extract content around each of the tags. The automated approach was not only more accurate than the previous manual process the client employed but was completed more quickly and could be scaled to accommodate much greater volumes of data. and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to deliver highly accurate analysis and associated observations from unstructured data. Whether its social media, email, public or private community data, chat transcripts or surveys, if data is text then CI possesses the capability to run analysis.

How CI Approached the Project


Working with our client, CI developed a text analytics strategy that mapped dimensions to each of their tags, which were then used to annotate each post. Data was fed directly into our semantic engine, tagged and then exported back to the client. Once the analysis was complete, the resulting information would be fed into our clients existing data system.

Suggested Next Steps


CI recommended to our client that they consider correlating their private data with social media data. Analyzing and correlating the two data sources would allow the client to determine if certain signals detected within their private data were also occurring within the social media ecosystem or were an event unique to each source. Utilizing the same tags to dimensions methodology, on-topic social conversations could be collected and analyzed. The resulting information could be integrated into an existing data management system or used to inform other business critical objectives and measures.

The CI Semantic Methodology


CI utilizes semantic technology based on Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) to expose latent contextual-meaning within a large body of text. Sophisticated language processing is the critical foundation for successful analysis. Export comprehensive results from CI Semantic Categorization engine into your own central repository; conduct further analysis including social media insight appends and correlation with other existing data elements.
