Scraps equaling 36 rectangles 2 ½” x 5”, 12 of each of your three color choices18” x 18” muslin18 ½” x 18 ½” batting¼ yard bindingJust over a 1/2 yard for backing, depending on your preferred methodCut:36 3 ½” squares solid gray36 2 ½” x 5” rectangles, 12 of each color18 ½” x 18 ½” square muslin3 2 ¼” x WOF binding fabricI made an envelope back using one 18 ½” x 11” rectangle and one 18 ½” x 14”rectangleInstructions:Sew a rectangle strip onto one edge of your gray squares at an angle. Audition theangle to the gray square by laying it across the top.
 
When it suits you, flip it over so the wrong side it up, and sew, using the edge ofthe fabric on top to create a 1/4” seam.Press, seams facing away from the solid gray. This is important for a later step.Turn the block so the wrong side faces up. Using the gray square as your guide,trim away the excess orange fabric.With the right side facing up, fold back the orange strip. Using the seamallowance as your guide, trim away the solids gray fabric underneath.
