INTRODUCTION
There are four key components that take a significant role in this action research project and will be further explored. These components include: Perception, Language, Culture, Social Interaction, andConsciousness. Initially this action research project began as an examination into the question of 'Whatdo Southern Californian students gain from a cross-cultural experience with students in Uganda?However, the question has since evolved into a much broader scale: What is the impact on urbanstudents in a cross cultural experience?In the coming age of a global society, nations are equipping themselves to match the needs of their diverse societies. The current toppling of governments within the Middle East and North Africahave created a sudden surge in the exodus of world citizens from these particular territories, and the risein technological innovations have created a much more connected world. The integration of a globalcurriculum and innovative technology within the American public schools is one way to enable our youth, diplomacy and future success within the 21

Century (Conceicao et al, 2003).The objective of my action research project is to examine the effects of cross-culturalcollaborative learning utilizing innovative technology. The project implemented for the purposes of thisresearch will teach students how to use a digitally innovative platform to highlight and share issuesimpacting themselves and their societies. In mentioning the concept of innovative platform or technology, I am referring to a current and custom-made platform utilizing technology for the purposesof revolutionizing the educational process, challenging the educational standard as we know it.
