LookingForward
Most political parties base theirplans on one looming event --the next election, and one aim --staying in power. The Green Party is dierent. Welook much urther orward, andwe plan or a ar greater goal-- a livable world, with enoughor everyone, with healthycommunities based on healthyeconomies; secure or uture generations.Canadian economist John Kenneth Galbraith said All greatleaders have had one characteristic in common: it is thewillingness to conront unequivocally the major anxiety o theirpeople in their time.”That is the role or the Green Party. Some may dismiss us as idealists, utopians and dreamers. But weare the realists. We know our goals can be achieved. We alsoknow that i they’re not, our children and grandchildren will becondemned to an unlivable world. The most urgent threat is the climate crisis. We must move toa low-carbon economy and dramatically reduce emissionso greenhouse gases. We can do this in ways that enhanceCanada’s economy and the wellbeing o Canadians.

We must also invest in peace. And we must shockproo our society against unoreseeable eventsby building in resilience. In energy, that means relying increasingly on decentralizedrenewable power and less on mega-project generators. In socialpolicy, it means realizing that looking out or one another is asimportant as breathable air, drinkable water and healthy ood. The Green Party aces the major threats o our time – the climatecrisis, economic instability, increasing militarism and a growinggap between rich and poor -- with clear-eyed realism. It oerspractical solutions -- down-to-earth policies. We want to engageCanadians in the positive changes essential to bequeath a livableworld to our children. Please join us!
